    After the 4th or 5th day of the HCG 500 Calorie Diet, the amount of weight that is lost per day begins to decrease. Most people start to lose about one pound or less per day.

    You might find that you are urinating a lot less too. Some people don't urinate at all for 2 or even 3 whole days. However, this is nothing to be concerned with, everything should return to normal within a couple of days. This happens because of the retention and elimination of water. Of coarse this usually occurs more in women than it does in men. 

    How Does This Happen? 

    Basically this all happens when fat is extracted from cells that are stored in your fatty tissue. When these cells are empty, your body breaks down the cellular structure and absorbs it. But breaking up useless cells, connective tissue, or blood vessels, can lag far behind the process of extracting fat.

    When this happens, your body replaces some of the extracted fat with water which is retained for this purpose. But because water is heavier than fat it may appear that you have lost no weight at all. When in reality you probably have lost a good amount of fat exactly where you were supposed to, but then your body had replaced that fat with water.

    When this tissue is finally broken down, the water is released and you may find yourself urinating very often. At the same time, you should have a sudden drop in weight too.

    But because this happens, some people think that they must have done something wrong, when really everything is going quite normal. This is why some people will notice that they have lost inches in their waist, but not dropped any weight according to the scale.

    So if your waist get smaller but your weight loss slows down, don't worry, you're not alone.

    I am a bit confused. I went to the health food store to get my flavored stevia and some vitamins and one of the workers asked if I was doing the HCG diet I responded with yes I am and she recommended me taking MCT oil 1 tablespoon per day and said this would increase weightloss and was referred to her by a naturepath as well as a supplement called 5htp or 5htcp,she said both of these would help with cravings and increase weightloss. Do you know anything about this? Also is MCT oil ok in phase 2? I have read yes in phase 3 but not sure about 2

    Hi Kristin,

    The HCG Protocol says that most oils are bad and to stay away from them. But, some people say that MTC oil and 5HTP (I don't know about 5HTCP) can both be used during phase 2.

    However, a lot of these things are just trial and error. If you decide to try one and you plateau or even gain weight, stop immediately!

    The only thing is that while you are on the HCG Diet, every single day is precious time. You don't want to give up even 1 day of weight loss.

    But if you feel like you absolutely need something and increasing the HCG Hormone hasn't helped, then you might want to try one of these things. Just make sure to use caution.
