Going into Phase 3 of the HCG Weight Loss Diet, which is also referred to as Maintenance, can be a scary time for people; and I can completely understand why... You are just coming off of a very strict 500 Calorie Diet where you are only allowed to eat 2 small meals a day.

When suddenly you are given the freedom to eat almost anything you'd like whenever you get hungry. Aside from sugars and starches that is. This type of thing can be very intimidating for a person that's trying to stay within 2 pounds of their ending weight as of Phase 2.

However, if you follow these Phase 3 guidelines, it should help make this part of the diet just a little bit easier...

Phase 3 Portion Control - How Much Is Too Much

The biggest thing during the Maintenance Phase is portion control. But because we live in a world where everyone drinks Big Gulps and eats Super Sized meals, you must rely on yourself to regulate your portions. So here is a good rule of thumb to follow...

Now it's important that you eat an adequate amount of protein and enough food. So after Phase 2, it's a good idea to double your intake of protein and triple the amount of calories for an entire day.

For example: Instead of a 3.5 oz. (100g) serving of protein with one meal - You would have more like 7 oz. (200g). You should still eat 1 fruit and about 2 cups vegetables with each meal as well. Eating a meal this size twice a day, mixed with a big breakfast, should have you somewhere around 1,500 calories per day.

Another great thing to remember is... Rather than eating and eating until you are completely stuffed - Just eat until you are satisfied and full. Also, it's hardly ever necessary to go back for seconds.

And although you want to be mindful of what you eat, don't drive yourself crazy by counting calories - Eating smaller and healthier meals should be enough. At the same time you want to be aware of the ingredients and chemicals that are being put into your food.
