    An Apple Day can be very useful when it comes to breaking up a plateau on the HCG Diet. The only trouble is not everyone knows how Apple Days are supposed to be done.

    So today I thought we answer some of the more common questions that people ask about doing an HCG Diet Apple Day.

    What are Apple Days used for?

    For the most part Apple Days are used as a Plateau Breaker.


    When would I start my Apple Day?

    An Apple Day should always begin at lunch time and continue for 24 hours until lunch the following day.

    How many apples can I eat?

    You are allowed to have a total of six large apples throughout the course of the entire day.

    Do I have to eat my apples at certain times?

    No. Basically you can eat your apples whenever you'd like. But I would recommend that you eat an apple in place of each meal. Then in between your normal eating times if you find yourself getting hungry simply have another apple; just be sure not to exceed 6 apples during that 24 hour period.

    What else can I eat on an Apple Day?

    During your Apple Day, you are not allowed to eat any other food.

    What can I drink during an Apple Day?

    The only liquid that you should really drink is water. However, you should only drink just enough to quench your thirst; that is if you are still thirsty after eating an apple. Most people don't feel the need for very much water during an Apple Day.

    Can I do an Apple Day at anytime during the week?

    If you are using sublingual HCG Drops or Pellets you can do an Apple Day at anytime. But if you are doing the diet with HCG injections, you should NEVER start an Apple Day on a day that you don't take your shot.

    For example: If you are skipping one injection day a week, you should not start an Apple Day on that particular day. Or if a woman's menstrual cycle causes her to put the injections on hold, she should not start an Apple Day during that time.

    Will I lose weight on an Apple Day?

    Most people will not lose weight on an Apple Day. However, the Apple Day can help you to start losing weight as soon as the very next day. This is partly because of the water being eliminated.

    The good news is that the water weight should not be regained once you resume the 500 Calorie Diet again the next day. Plus, if you stick to the HCG Diet Protocol, you should continue to lose.

    I have ben on the Hcg diet[drops] for almost 2 weeks! I have only lost 12 pounds, and I'm a little upset that the weight hasn't come off faster! I'm thinking about doing the Apple Day thing to get over this plateau. My question is this, Do I still take the drops on the 24 hour apple day? I can't seem to find an answer anywhere! Thank you

    Hey mystery reader,

    The day that you decide to have the Apple Day - You will still use the HCG Hormone as usual. So the answer to your question...

    I have just started the hcg diet.(sublingual) I am trying to record everything I eat and take notes etc. I cannot find a good template and the excel spreadsheet I put together is not good. DO you know of a template that would do well for this? I am only on day day 4 of the 500 cal and I can hardly even eat that much. My doc suggested I use a little less of the drops. WOndering how that may affect the weight loss.

    Hi Judy,

    Unfortunately I don't know of any good templates to use for that sort of thing. My wife Suzy and I just used our day-planners to track our progress. Sorry.

    But if you're not able to eat even 500 calories a day, using less drops should help. This is because the HCG causes you to not feel as hungry. So using less of the drops should make you have more of an appetite.

    I use Sparkpeople to track my food and weight. The site doesn't like the limits of the hcg diet, but you can do it. also, livestrong has a calorie and fitness tracker. Not really happy about posting personal history on a website, but it does the job.

    Brian, I am following the diet exactly as my doctor told me, never eating more than 500 cals a day, usually yeas as I don't even have two meals and I have only lost 5 pounds. i have been on the diet for 11 days. Really really discouraged :( what can I do?

    Hello Anonymous One,

    Are you on the Drops or the Injections? Sometimes the weight loss is slower with the drops I have noticed.

    Are you on a Plateau right now, or just losing a little every-day?

    Because... on average women lose about 1/2 pound per day - where men tend to lose 1 whole pound per day.

    So you are not doing too bad at all. Keep your chin up. If you feel like you are doing everything right, then just keep doing what you are doing and things will get better, I'm sure.

    Questions for you Brian: If you do an apple day from lunch to lunch, what do you do the rest of the day? Do you resume your 500 calories and drink a lot of water? If so, I assume the apples count toward that 500 calories. Also, when do you see the weight loss? The morning in the middle of apple day, or the next day? Thanks!!

    Hi Lacey,

    Yes, you are right... When you stop your Apple Day you would resume the 500 Calorie Diet, and drink a lot of water.

    Usually you will see the weight loss within 24 hours of stopping the Apple Day. Sometimes it can take a little bit longer.

    how often can i do an apple day? i am on day 23 on ghc drops i started @ 160 now i am 148 i did an apple day on 11/18 because i was stuck @ 151 from 11/12 which brought me down to 148 my booklet says i can continue pass 23 days to 40 days for a longer duration.should i do a longer duration or stop don't worry about apple day go to phase 3 and then wait for my 3 wks. to start again.

    You can do an apple day anytime that you feel like you need to.

    If you are using the Homeopathic Drops, I would stop taking them and start using the real Sublingual Drops. You can find everything that you would need to do those in the HCG 411 Store.

    Homeopathic drops have microscopic amounts of HCG in them, if any at all. So they don't really do what they are supposed to.

    Because you are losing weight with Homeopathic Drops, you are basically doing it on your own along with a 500 Calorie Diet. Which means you have amazing willpower. I know that I couldn't do it.

    These homeopathic companies should be more upfront about what they are selling. They are really deceiving people all over the world.

    Hi , I've beeing doing the injections and I'm on my 4th week, of course I had to stop because I had my mestrual break, but here is my problem, I've beeing injecting and have tried very hard but still only lost 8lbs, dont get me wrong I'm still greatful but I will to see a mayor improvement, so I guess my questions is , do you recommend the apple Day for more than 24 hours at a time?

    Hi Anonymous,

    I would only do an Apple Day for a 24 hour period at a time. But if you are having a tough time losing weight, you might cut out your fruit and Melba Toast/Grissini Bread Sticks from your meals to see if that helps.

    Also make sure that none of the ingredients that you are using have sugar in them.

    I am on R1P2D17 and I highly recommend doing the Apple Day if you are at a stall. I was at 128.8 one morning, then next morning I was at 129! So I was a little upset over this especially considering that I have never cheated and I pay attention to all ingredients in any products I use or anything that comes into contact with my body. The only things I could think of were either retaining water (which is a huge thing with on my mother's side) or the bagged spinach I was buying had a small amount of starch in it. So I did the Apple Day (and really didn't care for it) which by the next day helped me shed 1.8 lbs! I was thrilled and re-motivated. Even though it wasn't a fav alternative, I would definitely do it again if need be :)

    Hello,
    I stalled on Day 7-11 (well day 9 I released .6, but was back up the on day 10). I did an apple day on Day 11 and the next morning I had released 2.6lbs!!! I'm a little nervous eating today, because I really hope to get to my goal. I will read labels for hidden sugars which I think may have been the culprit.
    Oh and I ate 4 apples, not 6. The acid from the granny smiths (which is all I have) started to get to me.

    Well, I am glad to hear that you are losing again. But don't be afraid to eat, you need those 500 calories more than you know. Like you said, read the labels watch out for those hidden sugars and things of that nature.

    I think I am a little dense when it comes to the Apple Day protocol but I was hoping you would help me to understand it. If I decided to have an apple day due to a stall and decided to start on Monday, I would not eat anything on Monday until noon and then eat three apples on Monday. Then,my understanding is on Tuesday I would eat three more apples before noon, is that correct? What do I do after Noon on Tuesday? Do I have my 500 calorie diet on Tuesday or do I forgo all other food until Wednesday? Could I have 6 apples on that Monday and resume the 500 calorie diet on Tuesday? I am so unclear on this. If you could just explain this to me step-by-step I would appreciate it.

    If you start on monday, you would eat six apples that day. Then, the next day, which would be tuesday, you would eat lunch and dinner as normal.

    So the apple day is just for 24 hours. From noon to noon.

    Hi! I'm going to do the apple day tomorrow and want a little bit of clarification. For breakfast, I plan on having my tea, mid morning snack will be an orange and at noon start with my apple as well as one for mid afternoon snack and one for dinner. Then on Friday morning tea for breakfast, mid morning snack will be an apple and then resume lunch with what I'm allowed in the diet. Let me know if I am understanding the protocol or am I supposed to eat 6 apples tomorrow not including the one on Friday mid morning? Thanks.

    I have completed the 40-days with the sublingual HCG drops, lost 33 lbs and I estimate about 15lbs from my goal weight. Yay! My question is, this, being the 3rd day following my last drops, can I have an apple day? It would be more convenient today, and I've enjoyed apple days (had 1 apple day each of the previous 3 weeks). One last Hoo-rah before the maintenance phase, as it were.

    It's up to you, but I wouldn't do an Apple Day at this point. You should just do the 3 days at the 500 Calorie Diet, then start Phase 3.

    Question to help me clear up Apple day .. On Tuesday I have 2 apples for lunch, 2 apples for dinner, on Wednesday 2 apples for breakfast. - That will be my 6 apples (ending on Wednesday morning before lunch). Then resume with lunch and dinner as normal on Wednesday, or do I skip lunch and only have dinner on Wednesday?

    I lost very well my first week, right at a pound a day. I did have one day where Ididn't lose but then lost 2 lbs the next day. I'm on day 14 of VLCD and my ? is, I've been at the same weight for 5 days ( not lost for 4) I did an apple day the day before yesterday and lost one pound but had gained it back this morning. I'm drinking plenty of water,taking ACV, and have already cut out melba toast and one fruit. Suggestions please????------KC

    Hi Brian,

    I am on my 3rd week of hcg...lost 6.5 pounds my first week (bringing me to 138) and then cheated off and on the whole next week while still taking hcg (ended up gaining a pound overall). For the past two days, I have been following protocol and am at 137 right now. My question is...should I "make up" those days that I cheated to add up to 23 days? Or should I just finish out the drops as I had scheduled and go into maintenance, since I am losing again? I have around 14 days worth of hcg drops left in the bottle.     I have been on the sublingual HCG since 8/1, I have lost 12 lbs to date. I started at 141, and today I was 129.5; after having my 1st apple day yesterday. I was only able to eat 5 apples total, as I was grossed out by the thought of eating anymore... I don't plan to ever do that again, it was miserable. I had zero energy and felt very deprived. Now I wasn't told that I had to start from noon to noon, so I did the apple day from 9a-8p. I lost 2 lbs since yesterday, which is great:)
    This morning I ate an orange and was back on my 500 VLCD. My question is, because I didn't follow the protocol, should I expect a weight gain tomorrow morning? I really hope not!

    I ended my shots at 162. Started phase 3 and maintained for 2 days then gained 1.6 pounds which I kept for the remainder of the 3 weeks. I started my carbs with a bran muffin and went up to 164.5, did a steak day, but still weigh 164.5, any ideas on what I should do? I don't want to eat carbs if I'm going to gain over a pound a day. I'm trying an egg day today.

    I have been on the hcg diet for 14 days (excluding the load days). I am down 13 pounds. Last night I slipped and had chips after being perfect for 14 days. Once I cheated I decided to just make it a total cheat night and go for it so I ate everything that I had been craving. I believe sometimes you just need to get it out so you'll stop craving. Today I am re-motivated but will not weight for fear of the gain. Instead I will start and apple day today and give you my follow up of how it worked tomorrow.

    I'm on day 17 of hcg including load days and did my first apple day yesterday. I didn't mind the apples all day but the results were a little disappointing.. Since it was only 1lb instead of 2. So far I'm down 11 pounds total, but before today's loss I hadn't lost any since last Thurs. today is Tuesday. I haven't cheated at all and the only thing I've done that's not to protocol is workout every day. Which I have a hard time believing would effect weight loss in a negative way. Has anyone else experienced this issue?

    Well, 2 days have gone by since I cheated and followed it with an apple day. I am up 1 pound. I contribute this to the cheat day. I thought the apple day would help but obviously it did not. On my apple day I only got 4 apples down. Do you think that is ONE of the reasons I gained even after the apple day. Not so sure the cheat was worth it but on the other hand I have stopped craving once again, where as before I really began to fell deprived.

    what hcg are you using?

    I am the one that cheated last week and it took all week to come off. My start weight was 146 I am now 130 as of today. I have been on 20 days and 16 pounds down. I only deviated the one time. Can you give an example of what your day of eating looks like. Do you drink all your water? Are you lifting weight? How many inches have you lost? I am down a total of 22 inches.

    How can you tell if your drops are Homeopathic drops or Sublingual drops? I have looked at my bottle and the box that it came in. I dont see either one of those words on the contence. I know that Im staying hungry on the drops that I am taking. Maybe I will try to increase my drops tomorrow and see how that goes.

    If your drops came pre-mixed they are likely Homeopathic Drops. Sublingual is just the method in which you take the drops.

    They are most likely Homeopathic. If you want to be sure, drop some of the solution on a pregnancy test and if it tests negative they contain no HCG, if it is positive it does.

    So this is my 6th day on hcg. I have lost almost 6lbs. The last 2 days I've only been losing .2 oz a day. Can it be from not eating 2 apples a day. Because I haven't been eating 2 since I'm not hungry and have been drinking lots of water. Soo, I'm thinking of doing an apple day....is it too early to do it?     This is the second time Ive been on The HCG diet and its my 24th day and ive only lost 10 pounds. Ive been doing everything im supposed to do and this time im doing the diet, the weight is coming off a lot slower. And on day 20 i gained a pound and then 2 days after that, i gaiend another pound, even though im doing protocol. Im doing apple day today, hopefully this will help.

    I am on R2P2D9 of the hcg. The first time around I lost 15 pounds and kept it off for 4 months. I wanted to just lose another 7pounds this time. I really took advantage of the load days and ate and drank(wine) to my hearts content....subsequently I gained 5.5 pounds in 2 days! It took 4 days on the VLCD to get back to where I started and now I am only down 1 pound from my starting weight. I am doing the SL drops and am hungry and frustrated. I have increased them to 4x/day to see if that would help and it has somewhat with the hunger but not loosing weight. I was thinking of doing an apple day to see if that might help jumpstart things for me. I am also wondering if I am just being greedy with wanting to loose that extra weight..my BMI is 21.7. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    @ Anonymous #1 - Yes you would have a regular dinner on the day that you have your last apple.

    @ Anonymous #2 - Sometimes your body will only allow you to lose the amount of weight that is healthy for you. So you may consider that you are already at your target weight.

    Hello,
    I am really desperate to know how many apples you eat a day with the lunch and dinner. I am not stalling, I just started in fact. I have eaten 3 apples already with my lunch and dinner. I'm scared that I ate to many apples. Please helppppppppppp....

    @Anonymous. It should be two fruits per day. One in the morning and one at night as your last meal. If it is an apple day that you're asking about, you should be eating only apples.

    Arted at 180lbs and lost all of 10 in one week. (I've been using the drops). However, my body felt a bit starved today so I cheated. This morning I weighed 169 and now I'm back at 171i so I have an apple day tomorrow, afterwhich I intend to head back to the 500 calorie diet on Sunday. @Brian, any suggestions on how to loose weight faster?

    If I started an apple day yeasterday at noon, and am finishing today at noon, do I being consuming lots of water as I have on normal days after noon today? or am I supposed to wait to consume water until tomorrow? I was confused because normally you are supposed to drink a lot of water, and on the apple days hardly drink any. So I'm not sure when to start drinking water again.

    @jehanne you shouldnt do an apple day until you have 4-5 days of a steady weight or slight weight gain. if you gain like you did, id reccommend just drinking extra water the next day. that helped me when i gained 2 lbs. i went down 3 after drinking lots and lots of water. plus, if youre cheating weight gain is expected and an apple day is not the solution.

    I have lost 15.2# in the last 17 days. I am delighted with the weight loss. I will work on drinking more water. I have had some constipation. Other than this small problem, I am very happy with the results.

    Okay, still confused. I started Apple day at noon yesterday gained .6 lbs I had 4 Apples yesterday . Today I'm supposed to eat 2 more apples before noon. Do I eat reg. Lunch and dinner or do I have to wait until tommorow to eat.? If I get to eat lunch and dinner today do I acknowledge the calories consumed from the 2 apples?

    I started HCG injections on Thursday morning doing and did the two loading days as directed. On day 3, I drank alcohol and had steak, mac n cheese, crackers and chips. That's all I ate, but, was supposed to start the low calorie diet plan that day. Now, it is day 4 and I'm supposed to start my period on the 5th. Should I continue the diet as directed with the low calorie diet or should i start all over after my period?

    Okay so it seems that nobody has the same problem as me. Haha. Today is day 12 of phase 2 for me and I have lost 11 pounds which is great! But I have not lost one inch since I started the diet. I have done everything the protocol states to the T! Will an apple day help? What should I do to start seeing inches come off? Please help:(

    Hey there Anonymous -

    I am glad to hear that you have lost 11 pounds by day 12, that is almost 1 pound a day; which is fantastic!

    But try not to focus too much on the inches, they should start coming off by the end of the round.

    However, if you want to try and speed things up, you may want to try adding a brisk walk, yoga, or maybe some Zumba to your daily routine.

    I am new to this blog. I am starting round 2 on Wednesday so to discover this blog is awesome. I did not know about you on round 1. What wonderful information. I only lost 20lbs on round 1 but it was 20lbs that would not come off with other programs so I am grateful! I need to loose 40 more so I am hoping for a greater jump in the process this time!     The one of the best way to loose weight, do workout/exercise on daily base instead of just use weight loose supplements or medicines as you are describing apple helps to loose weight but huuuuh ! i don't have enough capacity to eat six apples a day & i notice your tip to take apple in lunch time.

    It's not up to 6 apples, it's 6 apples. Since you only eat two meals a day during phase 2 if you did an apple day & had 1 apple at every meal you'd be eating nothing but apples from lunch on day 1 to until lunch on day 4 (2 meals a day x 3 days = 6 apples).
