If you have read Dr. Simeons HCG Weight Loss Protocol, you have more than likely heard about the Diencephalon.
So what is the Diencephalon?
The Diencephalon is buried deep down in the human brain. It is a very primitive part of the brain and is almost entirely smothered by large amounts of nervous tissue.
The Diencephalon is the part from which the central nervous system controls all of the automatic functions of our bodies, such as breathing, the heart beat, digestion, sleep, sex, the urinary system, the autonomous or vegetative nervous system. And through the Pituitary Gland it also helps control the whole interplay of the endocrine glands.
Therefor, it makes sense to suppose that the complex operation of storing and distributing fuel to the body, might also be controlled by the Diencephalon. Sugar, which is another form of fuel for our bodies, is believed to be regulated by the Diencephalon too.
It is said that if the Diencephalon is working properly, it can help to better control our appetites and snack attacks. So with the right amount of HCG - along with the right foods, we can retrain this part of our brain.
Have you heard of the Diencephalon before?

Why around day 15 in P2 do I start to get cravings for foods we can not have during our losing phase? This is my 3rd time and did not have this problem the first time! The secound round I craved nuts and this time it's carb's... (the bad ones) not sugar but I want stuff like crackers or chips and I even eat the in my dreams... Not for real but when I do dream of them I do not have a loss as if I ate them for real, what is going on with my brain???
ReplyDeleteThanks,
Danielle
Hey Danielle,
ReplyDeleteI think that as we get more comfortable with the diet and how it works, our cravings tend to get stronger for some reason. (just my opinion) But don't worry you are not alone - most of us have cravings for foods that we can't have while on the HCG Diet.
To answer this question...

A big part of the HCG Diet is psychological. I don't know if we can will ourselves to lose weight - but Dr Simeons says that breaking up a Plateau with an apple day is purely psychological. Meaning that, doing an apple day will trick your brain to start losing weight again. So I think that if you can trick your brain into losing weight - Your dreams may trick your brain to stop losing. Make sense? Kind of?
Anyways, that's my take on it, I hope this helps. Make sure to come back often.
Thanks for the comment Danielle,
